About Me

I am a lucky person.

Not only do I live amongst a vast, loving family in Norwich, CT, but I also love what I do: serving others as a writing tutor and providing proofreading services.

But I wasn't always a tutor. First I was a writer, a journalist, and a copyeditor. I received my Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude (4.0), from the University of Arizona in 2009. As I pursued my degree, I worked tirelessly in the news industry.

As a journalist, I excelled; not only did I serve as editor in chief of my campus newspaper & magazine, the Arizona Daily Wildcat and RedBlue, but I was also chosen as one of 20 people nationally for the New York Times Student Journalism Institute in January 2008. Additionally, I was selected for the Gannett Talent Development Program in 2009, for which they chose five college graduates across the United States.

So how come I'm not in journalism now? I love tutoring more. I turned down Gannett's offer because I realized that I'm happiest serving others as a tutor rather than as a journalist. I also had an opportunity to take part in something great: Americorps' non-profit community service & leadership development program, Public Allies.

Fresh out of Public Allies, and armed with a ton of new teaching skills, I moved back east to be with my family & was hired at Three Rivers Community College as a professional writing tutor, where I still work part-time.

So why bother freelancing? So I can serve you & your family as a tutor, too. Why proofread? Because I'm good at it!
